Claritystamp Challenge July 2017 – Summer Holidays

Hello Everyone

Some of you will know that I’m in the process of refurbishing a new home, which has meant a lot of my stuff is in storage, including a lot of my craft goodies. Not sure Mum and Dad would agree with that as I’ve taken over their conservatory and it’s pretty full. However many a time I have turned to use a certain product only to discover it’s not with me. Good news though as I should be in my new home in mid-July.

It’s time for another Clarity challenge over on FaceBook. You can join in with the stamp and stencil challenge in Clarity Worldwide and with the Groovi challenge in Groovi Worldwide.

This month the theme is Summer Holidays. If you’ve already had yours I hope you had a lovely time, and if you are about to embark on yours have a safe trip and a great time.

Here’s my DT sample for you:

Summer Holidays

Using ATCs I created 5 mini scenes of Summer Holidays.

The following images show you stages of each card to cut down on the number of photos.

Summer Holidays 2

For this card position the outer part of the New York mask so you get the Statue of Liberty on the card. Using black ink (either Distress Ink, Artistry Ink or permanent ink) sponge colour onto the exposed card.

When done use the inner part of the mask to cover your image and add a darker blue shade to the top of the card. I used the Artistry blending tool, leaving the area above the silhouette lighter. As it’s Independence Day this month I added fireworks, using the smallest Allium stamp and Chloe Wow glitter embossing powders. Add a black Sharpie line around the edges of the card.

Summer Holidays 3

With this card I coloured the background first. Position the outer part of the Paris mask and add the images using black ink, as above for New York.

Using letters from the Alphabet Word Chains set, add Paris and one of the birds from the Grove of Trees Outliner stamp set. Add a black Sharpie line around the edges of the completed card.

Summer Holidays 4

Tear a Post-It Note along the sticky edge to create a mountain image. Position the mask to create the mountain to the left of the card, and add another Post-It Note where the horizon would be. Using a stencil brush add Distress Ink Hickory Smoke to the exposed card. Re-position the Post-It Note to create the horizontal mountain and add colour the same way. Protecting the top of the card add the green field using stencil brushes.

Using the mini stamps from the Stag Outliner set create a scene. Add shading beneath the deer to ground them. Once finished add a black Sharpie line around the edge.

Summer Holidays 5

Stamp the houses from the Harbour set and then add the boat. Mask both the houses and the boat. Mask off the top of the card allowing for a wall. Add Distress Ink Salty Ocean to the rectangular petite gel press using a brayer. Scrunch up some copy paper and dab ink off of the gel press. Turn and stamp the gel press onto the bottom of the card, creating water. Protect the bottom of the card and add the sky, I used Distress Ink China Blue.

It was at this point, as you can see from the picture, that I realised the boat was sitting on top of the water and not in it. To rectify this I made a mask of the boat from copy paper, cutting the bottom of the boat out whilst protecting the cabin and deck. Repeat the steps above to add water to the base of the boat, protecting the rest of the card.

Add colour to the boat and houses using coloured pencils. Add a black line to the edges using a black Sharpie.

Summer Holidays 6

Lastly an African scene. Blend yellow, orange and red onto the card using an Artistry blending tool. Play around with the positioning of the animals and the tree from the different African stamp sets. When your’re happy stamp the image. Add shading beneath the animals and the tree and a black Sharpie line around the edge of the card.

Summer Holidays 7

I created a background using the Ocean Swirl stencil. Adhere to black card and add to an 8 x 8 card base.

I played with the positioning of the cards before adhering to the background. Wink of Stella was used to add a little shimmer to the cards (except New York), though I’m unable to capture this on the photos.

I do hope you’ve enjoyed my trip to these different locations and that it’s inspired you to take part in the challenge. We love seeing your beautiful creations.

Another really nice card. I expect you would like to get away to one of your postcards and have some relaxing time rather than stress of moving. I hope it all goes well. Sue
