Hello and welcome to Claritystamp’s December Challenge.

I cannot believe that it is December already. This year has certainly gone by so quickly, though when in the midst of renovating my new home it didn’t always feel like that.

This month the challenge’s theme is to use the gorgeous Designer Papers and Parchment,

Here is my DT sample for you. I’ve kept it very simple and straightforward this month.

It is my nephew-in-law’s birthday just after Christmas. He loves cycling and so I thought I’d make him a matching card and coaster as one of his gifts. The photos have been taken over two days and in different light conditions which explains the difference in the colours of the paper and parchment.

This design, in Shenandoah is perfect, as I see a lake representing the perfect spot to go for a bike ride.

I worked on the coaster first using the matching parchment. I worked on the whole sheet, with the area I wanted in the coaster marked out.

I used the trees from the Deer Outline set and the Wee Trees set. The cyclist is part of the Wee Sports People stamp set. I stamped on the back of the parchment with Versafine ink, and then blotted the image by sandwiching it between two sheets of copy paper and passing it through a die cutting machine. The photo shows the image cut to size.

I then used the Groovi nested squares plate in the starter kit to add a frame, using Groovi tabs to hold the parchment in place.

The parchment was backed onto a piece of white card and fitted into a Pergamano acrylic coaster.

I then worked on the card using larger tree stamps from the Rope Frame set and Winter Trees set. The cyclist is the same stamp as above and a couple of birds from the Bird Table stamp set were added as there was a larger area to work with. Again I used Versafine ink and blotted the image as above.

The image was trimmed slightly and layered onto black card before being adhered to a card base.

I hope this inspires you to join in with the challenge this month. We all look forward to seeing what you come up with and you could win a £50 Claritystamp voucher. There are two challenges- using stamps and stencils in Clarity Worldwide and using Groovi in Groovi Worldwide on FaceBook.
