Claritystamp Challenge – Circles or Squares Mid Month

Hello and thank you for joining me today.

We’re half way trough the Claritystamp challenge of Circles or Squares. Have you entered yet? If not I hope the following inspires you to have a go.

My artwork is inspired by the great artist Piet Mondrian, famous for his coloured rectangles and squares.

Apologies for the lack of photos at extra step, I changed my mind a few times and then forgot to photograph all the changes.

Firstly I made a mask of one of the ladies from the Elegant Ladies stencil, and used it to create a dress. squares-or-circles-mid-month-2

On a piece of Stencil card I taped the Square Frame stencil into place, rotated 90 degrees to create a diamond shape. The Elegant Ladies stencil was taped into place so the lady stood in the middle of the diamond. Add the dress mask and ensure any stencil card not covered by stencil is protected.

With the mask in place I drew the dress area onto the card, using a Zig pen and added the neck, sleeve and hem lines. The head, arms and legs were coloured using Distress Inks Spun Sugar. Remove the Elegant Ladies stencil.

Using Abstract Stencil 2, I draw squares strategically on the dress and used the edge of the stencil to connect the squares. At this stage I used a pencil so I could correct any placement problems.

I covered the entire lady with a mask and added subtle shading around the Square Frame stencil, in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

Remove the stencil. Using the Abstract 2 stencil and sometimes a ruler, I inked the pencil lines with the Zig pen. The squares were coloured using Promarkers. To finish I stamped the words using Word Chain 1.

The finished image was layerd onto black card and then onto a card base.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I hope this has inspired you to take part in the challenge.
