Today’s post features the card I’ve made for this week’s 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, the theme of which is Fairies. More details can be found here.

Here’s my card:

I taped the Spruce Stencil from Claritystamp onto some stencil card, cut to size for my card (5 x 7 inches). I brushed ink through the aperture using Clarity stencil brushes and Distress Inks, iced spruce, peeled paint and gathered twigs for the trunk. Using the brown ink still on the brush I added small small mounds using a torn copy paper mask.

The beautiful lights are from the Crafter’s Companion stamp set, Fairy Door, designed by Donna Ratliff. These were stamped across the lower branch using Versafine Olympia Green ink. To add the shorter light sets, I masked off the light either end of the strand whilst inking up the stamp.

Fairies from Claritystamp’s Wee Folk 3 Faries and Wee Folk 4 Elves stamp sets were stamped as though holding the lights and wrapping them around the tree.

The smaller star from Claritystamp’s Christmas Carol 1 -Angels and Shepherds set was added to the top of the tree with gold embossing.

The lights were coloured using a selection of Spectrum Aqua Markers from Crafter’s Companion and topped with clear sparkle. A vignette of colour was added using the ink on the Stencil brushes used to colour the tree.

Here’s a close up of the finished lights…

Thank you for reading this far. If you’re participating in the challenge too, good luck!
